Staying at Headgate Farm you can enjoy quality food & products at an affordable price with all day access for extra relaxation.
Your hosts Judy and Henry have a wealth of knowledge of what makes Exmoor special. Their farm is close to the moors with all its attractions, ideal for walking, cycling, fishing, shooting & horse riding. Walk along lanes & through woodland to reach the moors, where the views are breathtaking & the peace & quiet amazing.
Headgate Farm is situated on Exmoor close to the Devon and Somerset Border. Exmoor National Park has been designated an International Dark Sky Reserve, the first place in Europe to achieve this prestigious award and only the second in the world. On a clear night you can lie in bed and star gaze, listen to red deer stags roaring in autumn and the early morning chorus of song birds.
Although in a very secluded area we are just a five minute drive to the nearest village, with a shop & post office that sells nearly everything, together with two public houses & a church, the town of South Molton is 6 miles, Barnstaple & Tiverton 18 miles & the stunning North Devon sandy beaches approximately 25 miles. Junction 27 of the M5 motorway is a 30 minute drive away.
"Fantastic host in lovely surroundings; Open countryside and wonderful breakfasts. Wake up in the morning and hear nothing but birdsong and the baas of the lambs in the fields outside. Judy certainly makes you feel at home. Thank you so much". The Hardings
"A lovely 1860 Farmhouse, but modern and clean interior. Room was so warming and Jacuzzi the perfect way to end the day. The hosts went over and beyond helping us to organise our weekend, and were so friendly". I. Pring
